Manufacturing IT Support

When the network drops on the shop floor or the warehouse can't print a shipping label, orders stop moving. For manufacturers and distributors, technology problems show up as missed shipments, idle crews and unhappy customers.

Your Tech Team provides IT support for manufacturing and distribution companies across Fairfield County, from our offices in Wilton, Westport and Stamford. We keep your office, plant and warehouse systems running, protect your business from cyberattacks and plan your technology around how you actually produce and ship.

Why Do Manufacturers and Distributors Need Specialized IT Support?

Production and distribution put pressures on IT that a typical office never sees.

  • Downtime stops output. When systems fail, the cost isn't just a frustrated employee. It's a line that isn't running or a truck that isn't loaded.

  • Operations depend on connected systems. ERP, inventory, order management and shipping tools all need the network to stay up.

  • Manufacturers are frequent targets. Attackers know a stopped plant feels pressure to pay, which makes ransomware especially damaging.

  • Customers ask questions. Larger customers and defense primes increasingly want proof that their suppliers protect shared data.

General IT help can fix a laptop. Manufacturing IT support has to keep production and fulfillment moving while closing the gaps attackers look for.

Doing What’s Right, Every Time

“Ari Sam is fair, reliable and has very high integrity... I enthusiastically recommend Ari Sam and Your Tech Team. I have known Ari Sam and his team for many years. He and his company have been there for us whenever we needed help for ourselves or our customers. I can say with certainty that Ari is fair, reliable and has very high integrity. He cares about his customers' businesses and will always do what is right, even if it means telling them they shouldn't be spending money (not something all consultants will do). He has a long view about those relationships. I enthusiastically recommend Ari and Your Tech Team.”

Manufacturing IT Services

Our full list of IT services covers the technology a manufacturer or distributor runs on. Here is how each piece fits.

A help desk for the office and the floor

When something breaks mid-shift, your team reaches a real person. Our phones are answered 24/7, and every email gets a response in under 15 minutes. Resolution times depend on your service level and the issue. See how our service desk support works.

Managed IT that works as your IT department

With our Managed IT Department model, our team becomes part of yours. We monitor computers, servers and networks, apply security updates on schedule and fix small issues before they turn into production delays.

Networks that reach every corner of the building

Offices, production areas and warehouses each need reliable connectivity. We manage the network that ties them together and help keep office systems and shop-floor equipment on separate network segments, so a problem in one area doesn't spread to the other.

Cybersecurity for manufacturing

We take a protection-first approach to every system we manage. That includes multi-factor authentication, email filtering, endpoint protection and training that helps staff recognize phishing and fake invoice requests. Learn more about our cybersecurity services.

Microsoft 365 and email

Sales, purchasing and operations all run on email and shared files. We set up and secure Microsoft 365 so teams can collaborate safely, and we handle the migration to Microsoft 365 if you're still on older systems.

Backup and disaster recovery

Orders, inventory records, drawings and specs need to survive a failed server, a power event or a ransomware attack. We build backup and recovery plans so you can get back to producing and shipping again quickly.

Remote access and phones

Managers, estimators and sales reps work from the road and from home. Secure remote access keeps that connection protected, and modern business phone systems keep customers and suppliers connected to the right person.

IT planning with a virtual CIO

Our virtual CIO service gives owners a technology roadmap: hardware refreshes, software renewals and security priorities planned and budgeted ahead. Expanding or moving a facility? We also handle new office IT setup.

IT Support for Distributors and Warehouses

Distribution runs on speed and accuracy. Scanners, label printers, shipping stations and inventory systems all depend on dependable Wi-Fi and a stable network across large spaces. We keep that infrastructure monitored and maintained, protect the systems that hold your customer and order data, and help you plan upgrades before peak season instead of during it.

How Do We Protect Manufacturers From Cyberattacks?

Most attacks on smaller manufacturers start simply: a stolen password, a convincing email or an unpatched system. A few steady habits stop most of them, and free government resources can help you get started.

The NIST Manufacturing Extension Partnership publishes cybersecurity guidance written for small and mid-sized manufacturers. In Connecticut, CONNSTEP is the state's MEP center and offers cybersecurity consulting to manufacturers. CISA's Cyber Essentials is another practical starting point, and it recommends multi-factor authentication first.

That guidance is the plan. We do the daily work: putting protections in place, keeping them current and training your people so security doesn't depend on one busy person.

If you sell into the defense supply chain, contract requirements matter too. Defense contracts that involve controlled information typically require safeguards based on NIST SP 800-171, and the Department of Defense's CMMC certification program has been changing, with part of its rollout paused for review in 2026. The technical controls behind those requirements, such as access control, multi-factor authentication, monitoring and backups, are the same ones we put in place every day.

There are state rules as well. Connecticut requires businesses that hold residents' personal information to report breaches, and lawmakers shortened that deadline to 60 days.

Managed IT Services for Manufacturing: Managed or Co-Managed?

Companies come in different sizes, and so does our support.

  • Managed IT Department. We become your IT department. This is built for companies of about 10 to 50 employees with no dedicated IT staff.

  • Co-Managed IT. Your IT manager keeps ownership of daily priorities, and we add help desk depth, after-hours coverage, security tools and project help. This suits companies of about 50 to 250 employees.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does manufacturing IT support include?

It typically covers a help desk for office and floor staff, monitoring and maintenance of computers, servers and networks, cybersecurity, email, backups, remote access and technology planning, with a constant focus on keeping production and shipping moving.

How much do managed IT services for manufacturing cost?

Managed IT is typically billed as a predictable monthly fee, which is far easier to budget than paying for emergencies. The quickest way to get a real number is a short conversation about your company's size and needs.

Do you support our ERP and inventory software?

We support the computers, servers and networks your applications run on, so your software has a stable, secure foundation. Tell us what your company uses on the introductory call and we'll walk through how we would support it.

Can you help us meet customer security requirements?

We put the technical safeguards in place, such as multi-factor authentication, access controls, monitoring and tested backups, which are the foundation of most customer and contract security requirements. Your company remains responsible for its overall compliance program.

Do you work with distributors as well as manufacturers?

Yes. Distributors rely on many of the same systems, plus warehouse Wi-Fi, scanners and shipping stations that need to stay up through every shift.

How quickly do you respond?

Our phones are answered 24/7, and every email gets a response in under 15 minutes. Resolution times depend on your service level and the issue.
