Old laptops, servers, phones, and copiers do not stop holding your data just because you unplugged them. A hard drive sitting in a supply closet can still expose client files, active passwords, and sensitive emails years later.
Your Tech Team provides comprehensive, secure IT asset disposal and electronics recycling for Stamford businesses, operating right from our local office in downtown Stamford.
We manage the entire lifecycle securely: we locate and audit every device containing company data, perform certified data destruction or sanitization, deprovision the hardware from your active networks and cloud accounts, and ensure the physical equipment is recycled responsibly according to environmental standards.
When a business retires equipment, three things are at stake:
Your data: Deleting files or resetting a device doesn't reliably remove data. Without proper wiping or destruction, information can often be recovered.
Your accounts and access: Devices that are still linked to email, Microsoft 365, VPNs or management tools can become a back door if they leave the building that way.
The environment and the law. Electronics contain hazardous materials. In Connecticut, computers, monitors, printers and televisions are banned from the trash, and the state's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection says businesses must make their own arrangements to recycle e-waste.
Recyclers handle the third. An IT partner needs to handle the first two.

We identify every device you're retiring, including the ones people forget hold data: copiers, printers, phones, tablets, network equipment and old backup drives. Each item is recorded so nothing goes missing between your office and the recycler.
Before a device leaves, we remove it from your network, management tools and accounts, and reclaim any software licenses that can be reused. That closes off access and can also save money on software renewals.
We make sure data is wiped or the storage is physically destroyed, following recognized practices such as NIST SP 800-88, Guidelines for Media Sanitization. Devices that can be safely reused are wiped; drives that can't be trusted are destroyed.
Equipment is collected from your Stamford office and routed for recycling. The EPA recommends certified electronics recyclers, those certified to the R2 or e-Stewards standards, so materials are handled safely and nothing ends up in a landfill or shipped irresponsibly.
You get a record of what was retired and how it was handled.

Yes. After disposal, you receive documentation listing the devices retired and confirming how data was destroyed and equipment was recycled, including a certificate of data destruction. Keep it with your records for audits, cyber insurance reviews and client security questionnaires.
Some drives should never be reused. Failing drives, drives that held highly sensitive data and storage from regulated businesses are often better destroyed than wiped. We help you decide which approach fits each device, based on the sensitivity of the data and any rules your industry follows.
This is especially important for Stamford's financial firms, law practices, medical offices and insurance agencies, which often have specific obligations for how client information is disposed of. Learn more about how we protect data day to day in our cybersecurity services.

Responsible recycling keeps lead, mercury and other hazardous materials out of landfills, recovers valuable metals and plastics, and reduces the demand for new raw materials. Equipment that still works can sometimes be wiped and reused rather than scrapped, which extends its useful life even further. For businesses with sustainability goals, documented recycling is also something you can report.
Tech recycling is available as a separate service, both for our Managed IT Department clients and for businesses that just need equipment retired securely. We'll give you a clear quote based on the number and type of devices before anything is collected.
During a hardware refresh, when a batch of laptops or desktops is replaced. Our virtual CIO service plans these refreshes ahead.
During an office move or downsizing, when equipment piles up. See our office relocation IT services.
After a server or cloud migration, such as a move to Microsoft 365, when old servers are no longer needed.
When an employee leaves and their device won't be reissued.
When the storage closet fills up with equipment nobody remembers the history of.
Our Stamford office is at 500 Summer Street, and our headquarters is at 24 Danbury Road in Wilton, with a third office at 1701 Post Road East in Westport. We provide secure IT asset disposal for businesses across Stamford, from downtown and Harbor Point to the office parks along High Ridge and Long Ridge Roads, and in nearby Greenwich, Darien, New Canaan and Norwalk.
Security First: We treat retired devices as a security risk first and a recycling job second.
Unified Process: One team handles the inventory, the data, the accounts and the recycling, so nothing falls between vendors.
System Familiarity: We know your systems, so we know which devices hold what.
24/7 Availability: Phones are answered around the clock, and emails get a response in under 15 minutes.
Proven Scale: We manage more than 1,000 endpoints and are Cisco Certified and a Microsoft Partner.
Tell us what you need to get rid of. We'll protect the data, close the access and make sure it's recycled responsibly.
Laptops, desktops, servers, monitors, phones, tablets, printers, copiers, network equipment and loose hard drives or other storage. If you're not sure about an item, ask and we'll tell you.
No. Deleted files and many factory resets leave data that can be recovered with the right tools. Proper sanitization or physical destruction is the only reliable way to make data unrecoverable.
No. Connecticut bans computers, monitors, printers and televisions from disposal at solid waste facilities, and businesses must arrange their own recycling.
Sometimes. Devices in good condition can be securely wiped and reused or donated. We'll tell you what's worth keeping and what should be recycled.
