Popular Questions

What does Your Tech Team do?

Your Tech Team is a cybersecurity-first managed IT provider headquartered in Wilton, Connecticut. We act as the IT department for small and midsized businesses across Fairfield County. That covers help desk support, security, Microsoft 365, backups, phones, networks and long-term technology planning. Some clients hand us all of IT. Others keep an in-house person and use us to fill the gaps. Either way, you work with one team that knows your systems.

Where is Your Tech Team located?

Our headquarters is at 24 Danbury Road in Wilton, CT. We also have offices at 500 Summer Street in Stamford and 1701 Post Road East in Westport. From there we serve businesses throughout Fairfield County and nearby Connecticut towns, including Norwalk, Greenwich, Fairfield, Danbury and Bridgeport. The full list is under Industries and Service Areas below.

How fast do you respond when something goes wrong?

Our phones are answered 24/7, and every email gets a response in under 15 minutes. How quickly an issue is fully resolved depends on your service level and on what went wrong, and we spell both out before you sign on. Outages and suspected security incidents are treated as top priority, because those are the problems that stop your people from working.

What size businesses do you work with?

Our Managed IT Department service is built for businesses with roughly 10 to 50 employees that don't have their own IT staff. Organizations with 50 to 250 employees that already have an internal IT person or team usually choose Co-Managed IT, which adds extra hands, security tools and senior guidance. What makes Your Tech Team different from other IT companies?

Four things. We work as part of your team, not as a vendor you call when something breaks. Security comes first in every decision we make. We fix problems before they reach your desk instead of waiting for tickets. And our virtual CIO service helps you plan ahead. Our roots go back to enterprise database consulting in the 1970s and 1980s, and we are a family- and military-owned firm. Read more about Your Tech Team.

Managed IT Services

What are managed IT services?

Managed IT services means an outside team takes ongoing responsibility for your technology for a predictable monthly fee. Instead of calling someone after a problem appears, your provider monitors systems, applies updates, protects devices and supports your staff day to day. For a growing business, it gives you the coverage of a full IT department without hiring one.

What is the Managed IT Department model?

Our Managed IT Department is our full-service offering. Your Tech Team becomes your IT department: we support your employees, manage your devices and network, handle security, work with your software vendors and plan upgrades with you. You get a team that learns how your business runs, so fixes fit your workflow instead of a generic checklist.

What is co-managed IT?

Co-managed IT is a partnership with your existing IT staff. Your internal person or team keeps doing what they do best, and we add capacity where it is needed, such as help desk overflow, security tools, after-hours coverage, projects or strategic planning. It works well for companies of 50 to 250 employees whose IT staff is stretched thin.

What does a managed IT plan cover?

Every plan is built around your business. Most cover help desk support for your staff, device and network management, security updates, cybersecurity protection, Microsoft 365 administration, backups and coordination with your other technology vendors. Planning with a virtual CIO is part of the relationship. Before you sign, we walk through exactly what your plan includes so there are no surprises.

IT Support and Help Desk

How do my employees get help?

Your team can call or email our help desk. Phones are answered 24/7, and emails get a response in under 15 minutes. When you become a client, we share the exact contact details and how to flag an urgent issue, so nobody wastes time hunting for the right number when something stops working.

Can you fix problems remotely?

Yes. Many everyday issues, such as password resets, email trouble, printer connections and software errors, can be handled remotely through secure tools, which usually means a faster fix. For work that needs hands on equipment, like network installs, new hardware or an office move, our team works at your location.

What does proactive IT support mean?

Proactive support means we look for trouble before it reaches your desk. We keep devices updated, watch for warning signs and fix weak spots during planned maintenance. The goal is fewer surprises and fewer help desk tickets. Reactive "break-fix" support only starts after something fails, and by then your people are already losing time.

Do you help with new hires and departing employees?

Yes. We set up accounts, email, devices and access for new employees so they can work on day one. When someone leaves, we remove their access, secure their data and recover company equipment. Clean onboarding and offboarding is one of the simplest ways to close security gaps.

Cybersecurity and Incident Response

What does cybersecurity-first mean?

It means security is built into every decision instead of added at the end. When we set up a laptop, move you to the cloud or connect a remote worker, we start by asking how it could be attacked and how to prevent that. Our tagline says it simply: Get Connected. Be Protected.

What cybersecurity services do you offer?

Our cybersecurity services include multi-factor authentication with Cisco Duo, endpoint and email protection, security awareness and phishing training, security assessments, secure backup and disaster recovery and ongoing monitoring. We match the controls to your risk, your industry and what your insurer or regulators expect, so you are not paying for tools you do not need.

Is my business too small to be a target?

No. Attackers often go after small businesses because they expect weaker defenses. Phishing emails, stolen passwords and ransomware hit firms of every size. The good news is that a few basics stop a large share of attacks. The CISA Cyber Essentials guide is a useful starting point, and we can help you put those steps in place.

What should we do if we think we've been hacked?

Disconnect affected devices from the network, but do not wipe or power them off, since that can destroy evidence. Then call for help right away. Our incident response team contains the threat, finds out what happened and restores operations. If personal information was exposed, Connecticut law sets deadlines for notifying people. The Connecticut Attorney General explains the requirements.

How do we protect our business from phishing and wire fraud?

Combine training with technical controls. Staff should learn to spot suspicious emails and always confirm payment changes by phone using a known number. On the technical side, multi-factor authentication and email filtering block many attacks before anyone clicks. If money has been sent, contact your bank immediately and file a report with the FBI's IC3.

Backup, Cloud and Microsoft 365

How do backup and disaster recovery work?

Backups keep copies of your data. Disaster recovery is the plan for getting your business running again after a failure, ransomware attack or fire. We design both together, test that restores actually work and agree with you on how much data you can afford to lose and how fast you need to be back up.

Can you move us to Microsoft 365?

Yes. We plan and run Microsoft 365 migration and support, moving email, files and calendars from older servers or other platforms. We schedule the cutover to limit disruption, set up security settings from day one and help your staff get comfortable with Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint after the move.

Does Microsoft back up our Microsoft 365 data?

Microsoft keeps its service running, but protecting your data is largely your responsibility. Deleted files, overwritten documents and ransomware can still cost you work if you rely only on built-in retention. A separate backup gives you a copy you control and can restore when you need it. We can review your current setup and close any gaps.

Do you manage Microsoft Azure and other cloud services?

Yes. We handle Azure management and migration, along with broader cloud migration projects. That includes moving servers and applications to the cloud, setting up access and security, and keeping costs in check after the move. We start by looking at what you run today and recommend what belongs in the cloud and what does not.

Phones, Internet and Remote Work

Do you set up business phone systems?

Yes. We install and support business phone systems (VoIP) that run over your internet connection. Your team can answer calls from the office, from home or on a mobile app. Features like auto-attendants, call forwarding and voicemail to email are set up to match how your business takes calls.

Can we keep our phone numbers if we switch to VoIP?

In most cases, yes. Moving an existing number to a new provider is called porting. We coordinate the port with your current carrier and schedule it so your phones keep working through the switch. Keep your current account details and a recent bill handy, since the carrier will ask for them.

Can you help us lower our internet costs?

Yes. Our managed internet service review looks at what you pay, what speeds you actually get and which providers serve your address. Many businesses stay on old plans for years. The FCC National Broadband Map shows options at any location, and we help you compare them and handle the change.

How do you keep remote employees secure?

We give remote and hybrid staff secure remote access to the files and systems they need, protected with multi-factor authentication and managed devices. That way people can work from home or on the road without exposing company data on unsecured connections or personal laptops.

Office Moves and Equipment

Can you handle the IT side of our office move?

Yes. We plan the move with you, order internet service for the new space, design the network and cabling, move and reconnect equipment and test everything before your staff arrives. Our goal is for your team to walk in on day one and get straight to work.

How early should we start planning IT for a move?

As early as you can. New internet service at a new address can take several weeks to install, and cabling is easier before walls and furniture go in. Bring us in when you sign the lease, and we will build a timeline backward from move-in day.

What should we do with old computers and equipment?

Never throw them away. Old devices can hold sensitive data, and Connecticut bans covered electronics from the trash. Our tech recycling and IT asset disposal service wipes or destroys data, recycles equipment responsibly and provides certificates for your records. CT DEEP explains the state rules.

IT Planning and Consulting

What is a virtual CIO?

A virtual CIO (vCIO) gives you senior technology leadership without a full-time executive salary. Your vCIO reviews your systems, aligns technology with your business goals and builds a roadmap for upgrades, security and budget. It turns IT from a pile of urgent fixes into a plan you can see coming.

Can you help us plan an IT budget?

Yes. Through our IT consulting and virtual CIO service, we map out what needs replacing and when, which projects matter most and what they will cost. Planning ahead helps you avoid surprise expenses, like a server failing at the worst possible time, and spreads costs over the year.

Do you offer AI consulting?

Yes. We help businesses figure out where AI tools can save time and how to adopt them safely. That includes choosing tools, setting rules for what data can be shared with them and making sure new tools fit your security requirements. Start with a conversation about the work your team does today.

Pricing and Plans

How much do managed IT services cost?

It depends on how many people and devices you have, what systems you run and how much support you need. Our managed IT plans are billed as a predictable monthly fee, so you can budget for IT the same way you budget for rent. The fastest way to get a real number is a short introductory call where we learn about your setup.

Why a monthly fee instead of paying by the hour?

Hourly IT support makes money when things break. A monthly fee rewards your provider for preventing problems. It also makes your costs predictable, and your staff can ask for help without anyone worrying about the clock running. That encourages people to report small issues before they become expensive ones.

What affects the price of an IT plan?

The main factors are the number of users and devices, how many locations you have, the security and compliance requirements of your industry, and whether you need full IT coverage or co-managed support alongside your own staff. We explain how each factor shapes your quote, so you can see where your money goes.

Ready for a real number? Tell us about your team and your systems, and we will put together a plan that fits.

Switching IT Providers

How do we switch from our current IT company?

We start by documenting your systems, accounts and vendors. Then we plan the handoff, collect admin credentials, put our monitoring and security tools in place and introduce your staff to the help desk. We coordinate with your current provider where possible, so the transition is organized rather than abrupt.

Will switching providers disrupt our business?

We plan the transition to keep disruption low. Most of the work happens in the background, and changes that affect your staff are scheduled at times that suit you. Your employees will know how to reach us before the switch happens, so nobody is left without support.

What if our current provider won't hand over passwords or access?

It happens more often than you might think. Your business owns its accounts, domains and data. We help you identify what you own, work with vendors such as Microsoft and your domain registrar to recover admin access, and document everything so you never end up locked out again.

Industries and Service Areas

What industries do you work with?

We support businesses where data security and uptime matter. That includes finance and accounting firms, wealth management and M&A specialists, real estate and property management, law firms, medical practices, manufacturing, car dealerships and nonprofits. We also work with professional services firms.

Do you work with regulated businesses?

Yes. Many of our clients handle financial, legal or health information, which comes with security and privacy expectations from regulators, insurers and their own clients. We set up the technical controls those requirements call for, such as multi-factor authentication, encryption and tested backups, and we help you keep the documentation organized.

Which Connecticut towns do you serve?

We serve businesses in Wilton, Stamford, Norwalk, Westport, Fairfield, Greenwich, Danbury, Bridgeport, Darien, New Canaan, Ridgefield, Weston, Redding, Easton and Trumbull, along with nearby towns in Fairfield County. If your office is nearby and not on the list, ask us.

Do you serve businesses outside Connecticut?

Our focus is Connecticut, and Fairfield County in particular. Staying close to home lets us know the local providers, building landlords and business community, and reach your office when work needs to happen in person. If your company is based in Connecticut with a few remote staff elsewhere, we can still support them.

Getting Started

How do we get started with Your Tech Team?

Schedule an introductory call or call (203) 884-8729. We will learn about your business, your current setup and what is frustrating you about IT today. From there, we recommend a plan and walk you through what it covers and what it costs.

What happens on the introductory call?

We ask about your team, the systems and software you rely on, any recent problems and where you want your business to go. You can ask us anything, from how we handle emergencies to who you will talk to day to day. It is a conversation, not a sales pitch.

What should we have ready before we talk?

A rough count of employees and devices, the names of your main software and vendors, who supports your IT today and a short list of what is not working. If you have recent security questionnaires from an insurer or client, bring those too. Nothing needs to be perfect. We will fill in the gaps together.
